Larry Ng has been named the new boys' varsity volleyball coach at Susan Wagner, the Advance has learned.
Ng, the assistant for former coach Vicki Venditti, will take over the boys' team in the spring after 26 seasons.
"He's so wonderful," said Venditti. "He's such a dedicated coach in every facet of the game. It's a dream-come-true for me that he got the job. He deserves it."
Ng also doubles as an assistant for Marco Altieri for the girls' team. He has been the assistant for both teams since 2002.
He was recently named an assistant for the CSI women's volleyball team and coach Atef Dosse.
"I feel very honored and appreciated that I was chosen for the head coaching position," said Ng, also a member of the New York City Board of Volleyball Officials. "I hope to bring the knowledge of the sport and work ethic and drive for constant improvement to the boys' program."
"He's a fine individual," said SW athletic director Scott McBratney. "He's a young, organized, smart coach. He's done a wonderful job coaching with the boys' and girls' teams. He's a natural selection once Vicki stepped down."
